Meet Carl

I started playing drums when I was 10 and from age 15 I joined The East Norfolk Jazz Orchestra touring Europe and The US. In recent years, I have also toured extensively in the UK with my brother, Greg, and our band The Doggett Brothers.

Touring takes its toll - so, recently, I have been concentrating my efforts on writing and producing dance music and passing on my passion for drumming through drum lessons in schools and private tuition in person and online.

My teaching style

I like to focus on the practical side of drumming - introducing the reading of drum music by breaking down and simplifying all elements of drum notation. In my lessons, I will often jump on the kit to demonstrate visually and explain anything to help the student grasp the fundamentals of a groove.

My job as drum teacher is to inspire my students - making sure you are having fun, whilst learning basic technique and stick control, drum beats and drum fills around the drum kit, and building a solid foundation on the drums.

We will cover any style of drumming that interests you and learn how diverse styles inform and intersect with each other:
